What to know before you order
What the woodshop makes
Most of our catalogue is signage and home décor: family name signs, house number signs, framed and layered wall signs, keepsakes such as personalized maple crosses, and gift pieces like a wooden whiskey presentation box. Furniture pieces are built to order too — tell us what the piece has to do and where it will live.
Woodworking happens in the same shop as the CNC router and the laser, so one piece can use all three. A layered sign can have its raised letters cut on the CNC; a keepsake can be laser-personalized once it is shaped and sanded. You choose the result, and we choose the process that gets there.
Wood, stain and finish
Our engraved plaques are solid pine, about 3/4" thick, sealed with a protective finish. Framed signs pair a stained frame with a plywood background, and our layered relief pieces have been built in Baltic birch plywood and MDF. The stains offered on our made-to-order signs are Natural, Provincial, Classic Grey, Golden Pecan, Linen White, Ebony, Weathered Grey, Worn Navy, Dark Walnut and Red Oak.
For a custom piece, tell us the look you want, or leave the species open and we will recommend one. Wood is a natural material: grain, colour, knots and the way a stain takes vary from board to board, so a finished piece can differ slightly from photos or samples.
Indoor or outdoor
Say where the piece will live before we quote. Our indoor signs are not weatherproofed, while pieces ordered for outdoor use are sealed and protected for outside. Framed signs are built for indoors, and a live-edge house number sign is meant for indoor or covered outdoor spots such as a porch.
How a job runs
Send a description, a sketch, a reference photo or rough dimensions, and we reply within 24–48 hours with questions or a quote. Before anything is cut you receive a proof, mockup or written confirmation to check — spelling, dimensions and layout — and production starts once it is approved and paid.
Timing depends on the piece: small engraved items move quickly, while furniture and large signage take longer, and you get a timeline with the quote. Pickup is at our Dieppe workshop by appointment, a few minutes from Moncton, or we ship and quote the cost with the job.
What to send
Accepted formats: .jpg, .png, .webp, .pdf, .dxf
- A photo of the space or of a piece you like, with rough dimensions, is enough to start.
- For a personalized piece, send the exact wording — names, dates and spelling — the way it should appear. Custom text is made exactly as you submit it.
- Say whether it is for indoors or outdoors, the finish you have in mind (stain, paint or natural wood) and any wood you prefer.
- The quote form takes up to five files, 10 MB each and 25 MB in total.
When this may not be the right fit
- Anything in bare metal — cut, welded, fabricated or engraved — is outside what we do.
- An indoor sign or a framed sign is not built for full weather. If the piece goes outside, say so up front so it is built and sealed for it.
Common questions
Can you make just one piece?
Yes. Many jobs are one-off custom or heirloom pieces. We also run batches when a shop, an event or a business needs many of the same thing done consistently.
Can you add names, dates or a logo?
Almost everything can be personalized: names, dates, logos, coordinates, custom text or artwork. Custom wording is made exactly as you send it, so check the spelling before you approve the proof.
Will my piece look exactly like the photos?
Close, but not identical. Every board is real wood, so grain, knots, colour and the way the stain takes vary slightly from piece to piece, and from photos or samples.
Can a wood sign go outside?
Tell us before we quote. Our indoor signs are not weatherproofed; pieces ordered for outdoor use are sealed and protected for outside. Framed signs are built for indoors only.
How long does a custom piece take?
